Analysis – Fairly bolted up on chase debut in four runner event at Ascot and despite not winning in this sphere since, he’s run some good races including in this contest 12 months ago when beaten half-a-length by the re-opposing veteran Gino Trail. He ended last season with another fine effort in defeat in a listed handicap at Ayr when beaten the same distance and is only 2lb higher for this. He’s only a six-year old so it’s likely there’s plenty of improvement in him, he jumps well and the drop back to this shorter trip should suit having not seen out the 2m5f the last day.

Analysis – Mixed form chasing last season winning twice before a non-finisher on next three outings and has returned this season back over timber. Was tailed off on reappearance in graded company but ran a cracker when second at Cheltenham before going one better at Warwick, under this claimer, to book his place in the Pertemps final. He’s up a further 5lb for that win but Harry Teal takes that off his back and if connections are hoping to go in the Stayers hurdle then he’d probably need to win this, which he’s more than capable of doing.

Analysis – Made a promising start when second in a bumper before running a very respectable third on hurdling debut at Warwick in a race in which is starting to look strong with the winner Birchdale landing a Grade 2 last weekend, as well as the second and fifth going in again since. This five-year old opened his account the last day at Ayr and this opening mark of 126 might be lenient, Aidan Coleman keeps the ride for a trainer who won this race a couple of years ago.

Analysis – Won a couple of hurdle races last season and ended that campaign with a respectable fourth in a Grade 1 novice event at Aintree in the spring. Has taken to chasing well so far, building on a debut second with victory at Wexford in October, for which the form has taken a boost. Not so good over a trip too far in a Grade 1 next time but arrives here on the back of a decent fifth in that same grade on Boxing Day (the four who finished ahead of him all run in the Arkle the race before). Handicap debut here off a mark that looks manageable and Rachel Blackmore gets on well with this seven-year-old.
