Analysis – A weak looking affair to open Ayr’s card and it’s the joint top-weight who I think will take this. He was a close second over the minimum at this track in a maiden back in May of last year and both handicap starts have been promising (beaten eight-lengths both times). The most recent came after a short break and the form of that has worked out well with the two ahead of the gelding winning since. He’s still unexposed and has the assistance of the talented Danny McMenamin who claims 8lb which could be key, trainer remains in good form (34% strike-rate in past month) and if ready after 130-day absence should be right there. I think Silk Or Scarlet (other top-weight) could also go well eased in grade.

Analysis – Showed a glimpse of some talent on rules debut at Warwick when fourth in a novice hurdle though next two starts in that sphere weren’t as good. Was beaten a length however on handicap debut over 2m and was staying on at the finish over 2m3f the last day at Lingfield behind an improver so the further step up in trip could well suit. Paddy Brennan is a good booking in the saddle and the conditions should be fine for this unexposed six-year old.
