Analysis – Dambys Star hasn’t exactly been a star performer so far but after 106 days off the track and clearly waiting for better ground he looks to have a realistic chance in this weak looking Class 5 race with first time cheek pieces and Nico back on board. His last run was poor but dropping back 2F in trip and 5lb lower he comes into calculations. Not shown much since his debut NH flat race behind Aintree winner Tea For Two here. The 11yo Academy General has more letters than numbers in his most recent form but he has won 2 PTP & 1 hurdle race all over 3m trip so now back up in trip from 2m3 last time and a few lb lower in this low grade class 5 h’cap gives him an outside chance of running better than his 50-1 odds suggest, enough to makke it hard for me to leave him out.

Analysis – Done both of these before with positive results but been a while since either won a race. I liked the look of TS off a mark of 79 having tipped her at Fontwell off 100 when she unluckily slipped up when coming through 2 out. I couldn’t leave CR at that price, he’s won at 33-1 twice for me in the past but some years ago now, ran well recently at Plumpton in a lower grade his 10lb wrong in the h’cap is a worry but we are in silly season with results and I’d never forgive myself if he won and I wasn’t on.

Analysis – Steel Express winner of a bumper here but unable to build on that once hurdling. Started 2017 with a 32L 6th of 17 behind the 148 rated Neon Wolfe here and last time was 7th of 14 again here off top weight in h’cap off 109 beaten 27L by the inform Galactic Power. Winning rider Connor Smith is back on board and down 3lb plus jockeys 5lb claim runs off 8lb lower must have a decent ew chance. I also liked Gasoline but couldn’t quite bring myself to do him as well.
