Analysis – I’ve been a fan of Lostintranslation all season and may be foolish to desert him here but he’s been beaten by Defi Du Seuil off level-weights the last day and although he beat him here the time before, he was receiving 3lb that day and his trainer is out of form. It’s Phillip Hobbs’ gelding who I think can land the opener on Day Three. He won the Triumph Hurdle in a canter back in 2016 and though was underwhelming here on chase debut over 2m, the step up to 2m3/4f since has improved him massively. He beat RSA winner Topofthegame at Exeter and he may have been sent to the front too early when losing to the aforementioned here. With a more patient ride I think with everything in favour in regards course/ground/trip/class this six-year old takes all the beating. Kildistart and Real Steel may be the ones to fight out the placings. 1. Defi Du Seuil, 2. Lostintranslation, 3. Real Steel.

Analysis – On paper this looks a tough one to call, Un De Sceaux of old would take some beating but he’s an eleven-year old now and may be vulnerable to younger legs. Footpad was handed the Arkle last year and this will be tougher and Road To Respect may find this on the short side. I’m a fan of Frodon and he’s got a lot in favour with plenty of course form but it’s the Henry De Bromhead eight-year old who gets my vote. He was a good second behind Presenting Percy last year and again filled that spot over Christmas behind another leading Gold Cup contender Kemboy at Leopardstown before dropping back to this trip when taking a Grade 2 ahead of Anibale Fly last month. All good form and Rachel Blackmore gets the leg up in search of a second festival winner. He’ll like the ground and in two festivals has finished second twice so this may be a case of third time lucky. 1. Monalee, 2. Frodon, 3. Un De Sceaux.

Analysis – Quite a few in here with course form but it’s the top weight Janika who I think might take some beating. He arrived from France a multiple winner on heavy ground so the rain they’ve had will suit and despite top-weight he may well just be a better horse than these. He was a good second on UK debut behind Hell’s Kitchen before being beaten a head by the re-opposing Siruh Du Lac over C&D at the end of January and he’s a pound better off this time around. Spiritofthegames brings good form to the table and at a price I wouldn’t be surprised if King’s Odyssey ran a nice race from 2lb below his highest winning mark with ground/trip/course conditions in favour. 1. Analysis – Nicky Henderson has a strongly-fancied favourite for this race in Epatante, though it’s hard to gauge the form of her two wins over hurdles. Sinoria has won well the last twice also and Willie Mullins has won all three running sof this so his runners can’t be ignored with preference for My Sister Sarah, but Posh Trish looks too hold strong credentials on the back of her three consecutive wins (twice in listed events). She’s improved on each of those runs and with ground in favour from a top-yard looks capable of conceding weight to some of her market rivals, I’d be a little surprised if she’s not seriously involved. Lust For Glory has form against this mare so she too could run well at a nice price. 1. Posh Trish, 2. My Sister Sarah, 3. Sinoria.
