His victory came from a pound lower mark in a higher grade just over a year ago and his most recent run was possibly an even better effort when beaten three-quarters of a length in the same grade. He made a terrible error at the second last which done for his chance of winning and compensation could await now dropped in grade. He’d hurdled well up until that point so if handed another easy lead he may well take some pegging back from the same mark.

Analysis – This gelding has tended to improve on each outing over the past few seasons and the handicapper has dropped him 3lb for a well held fifth the last day, which puts him back down to a winning mark achieved at Plumpton almost two years ago and it’s also 4lb below his highest winning perch. That win came over this trip in a higher grade to this, the same as recent runs, and if back to his best down in class he could be overpriced as this mark of 88 looks dangerous and he’s only finished outside the places once in five starts in this grade.
