UNITED V ATLETICO – CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Following their 2-0 triumph over Brighton and Hove Albion, United secured a vital 4-2 victory against fierce rivals Leeds to make sure they were in the best possible form for their return to the Champions League.
Atletico are in indifferent form ahead of this one. Last time out they beat Osasuna 3-0 but have lost two of their last five matches. The La Liga giants find themselves fifth in their domestic division, 15 points behind leaders and city rivals Real Madrid.
Diego Simeone will not be able to count on his captain tonight as the Argentine confirmed Koke would miss the match due to injury. As for United, they will be without Edinson Cavani once more due to a groin injury.
United have four big decisions to make vs Atletico Madrid
United will be hoping for another famous European night when they travel to face Atletico Madrid tonight (Wednesday).
Ralf Rangnick’s side have struggled for consistency over the past few weeks but will be eager to prove they have finally turned a corner after victory over fierce rivals Leeds at the weekend.
Even in that win at Elland Road, United displayed plenty of contrasting positives and negatives, with a need for improvement required if they are to make an unlikely bid for the Champions League title.
In order to do so, Rangnick will need to get his team selection spot on and, ahead of the first leg against Atletico, he has four selection dilemmas to solve.
